06.08.2010

Nine countries from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) joined forces at the EXPO to organise the China Investment Forum marketing seminar in order to promote mutual investments between China and CEE countries.

More than 60 Chinese investors, journalists and representatives of foreign investment agencies participated in the seminar held at the Polish EXPO pavilion and the tour of the pavilions of CEE countries that took place afterwards. The goal of the seminar was to introduce investment opportunities in CEE countries and talk about the success stories of Chinese companies that have already invested in the region.

Toomas Tiivel, Commissioner General of the Estonian pavilion at the EXPO, stressed two important points in his speech to the visiting businesspeople: “Estonia’s adoption of the euro next year confirms that our economy is reliable. Also, Estonia is the EU member state located nearest to China.”

The visitors’ main areas of interest in the Estonian pavilion were Estonia’s accession to the euro area and the country’s thriving IT sector. The businesspeople were introduced to Estonia’s various e-solutions, including e-police, e-school and the e-prescription system.

The theme of EXPO 2010 held in Shanghai, China between 1 May and 31 October 2010 is "Better City – Better Life". The Estonian National Day at the EXPO will be celebrated on 18 October. Estonia’s participation at the EXPO is organised by Enterprise Estonia.
