Singing Saturdays

Come and join the world’s biggest karaoke choir!

What?

Choral singing is one of the most recognizable hallmarks of Estonia’s national culture.  “Singing Saturdays” is a weekly programme held in the Estonian pavilion, the role of which is to offer a unique cultural experience through choral song.

Why?

Among the Chinese as well as elsewhere in the world, karaoke is a popular form of musical self-expression. Choral karaoke in this form is taking place for the first time in the world.

 How?

Every Saturday visitors to the Estonian pavilion will have a chance to sing along with Estonian choirs so that the choirs sing up on the big screen in the pavilion and the visitors sing along in the pavilion. The songs will be in Estonian, Chinese and English. The singers will be led by a conductor.

When?

The choral karaoke sing-along will be held as up to four sets on every Saturday throughout the 26 weeks of the EXPO, in the Estonian pavilion.

And then…?

The singing will be recorded and can later be downloaded. The recordings of the singing will be uploaded to www.savecity.org as mp3s each week and the singers can download them the following week.
